I can’t believe I forgot to mention this, but for a couple of years back in 1995, 1996 mom and I would go to KMart on Thanksgiving morning since she ordered our dinner from the old Oasis restaurant in Hampton, Virginia, or once I got in high school, the Winn Dixie that had just opened up. The only thing I remember getting on those trips was candy and an Animanacs coloring book on super clearance when I was 12.

102. When local news didn’t run nonstop from 5pm-6:30pm every evening

image

(source)

I grew up in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia, and I seem to remember in the early to mid 1990s, the evening news only came on at 5pm, and 6pm, and that was it. None of that 4pm, 5pm, 5:30pm, and 6:30pm stuff. We get Richmond news in the town I live in now, and the NBC station’s news starts at 4. FOUR

There for a while in the mid 90s, I remember the CBS affiliate at 5:30 in the evening, would show either Home Improvement or Seinfeld, and then another episode at 7 and 7:30. Here’s a break from my collection from 1996, where Home Improvement comes on at 7.
